Lieut. Bertram Alfred James (1866-1891)

Some of these papers were discovered in the summer of 2010, at "Challonsleigh", Whitchurch, Tavistock, Devon, in the possession of Geoffrey Fox (b. 1938), who is the stepson of James's nephew Eric Trevenen James.

BAJ-1 Covering note (possibly last page of a letter) from BAJ's mother, Susannah Elizabeth James, presumably to her eldest son HR ("Bobby") James. Gives an address in Burma, presumably for her middle son BA James.  Undated, but refers to a gift from Bobby and his wife Mary (who were married 1890) so presumably late 1890 as BAJ was killed 24 Jan 1891.
